Get to know the main sorts of bristles and find out how to choose the best toothbrush for your oral care.

Rounded Bristles
Rounding the bristles' tips allows more smoothness while brushing.

Rectangular Rounded Bristles
Double-action rectangular filament bristles: steady cleaning between the teeth and smooth on the gums' line.

Extra-Soft Conical Bristles
The extra-soft conical bristles gently massage the gums during toothbrushing. They reach the space between the teeth and the gums (gingival fold), allowing a gentle and deep cleaning. Being extra-soft, they are fit for those who have sensitive teeth and gum retraction.

Bristles' Hardness
The bristles' hardness is determined through the Stiffness process - a device that measures the resistance to the pressure applied to the bristles. The index (result) classifies the toothbrushes as extra-soft, soft, medium or hard.

The human mouth is a harmonious and complex ensemble. That's why it is imperative to stay tuned about oral health topics. Understanding a bit more the main mouth diseases is the first step to prevent them.

Plaque, Tartar and Gingivitis
Plaque is the accumulation of bacteria formed between the teeth and the gums, in the gingival groove. If it's not removed, it may harden up and turn into tartar, that can only be removed by a dentist.

Gingivitis is the inflammation of the gums, caused by the accumulation of plaque, which can provoke irritation, swelling, bleeding and bad breath.

Gingivitis can be prevented by the regular flossing and a correct toothbrushing together with a toothpaste.

Cavity
Cavity is caused by bacteria colonies assembling from the dental biofilm (plaque). It is associated to certain eating habits, such as sugar excess and frequent snacks between the main meals without brushing the teeth, damaging the dental enamel. In the beginning, the cavity may be reverted by local application of fluorite by the dentist and the use of dentifrice containing this substance.

Special cares for an efficient oral hygiene, both for the mom and the baby's future.

Care During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, the mother's body is the unique source of nutrients for the fetus, whose first teeth begin to grow from the 6th week.

Sweet food must be avoided by mothers, because around the 4th month of pregnancy, the baby's taste begins to develop. High consumption of sugar may cause the child to like candy excessively.

Upon acknowledging that she's pregnant, the future mom must inform her dentist and visit them regularly. It is important to avoid x-rays.

Baby Care
During the first six months, milk is essential for the baby, primordially the mother's milk, which contains all the necessary nutrients for their developing, in the correct amount, including the antibodies that will form their immunologic system.

In case breast-feeding isn't possible, a feeding bottle should be used, without adding sugar to milk, with anatomic nipple, accordingly to the dentist or pediatrician's advice. To minimize the early cavities risk during childhood, avoid letting the child fall asleep while nursing, either from the breast or the feeding bottle. Clean the baby's mouth at least once a day using a cloth diaper, a gauze pad or following the dentist's orientation.

Past the baby's 6th month, or as soon as the first little teeth begin to show up, the gums may be cleaned and massaged with Condor Baby Dent, extra-soft silicone thimble, made of the same material as pacifiers and nursing nipples. Cleaning must be done after every nursing or always when needed, providing relief to the baby.
